Top tips for hosting a summer event

We can’t wait for the summer season at Crumplebury.

We can’t wait for the summer season at Crumplebury. Those who dine with us regularly, will know we’re all about using local produce, so when it comes to growing our own herbs and vegetables, this time of year is very much savoured! We also love to see our rapidly developing, new events venue (currently under construction!) bathing in the sunlight, ready and waiting to be filled with guests.

Summer also means an abundance of indoor and outdoor parties for us at Crumplebury. We can’t wait to start offering up our venue for both business events and summer parties – so we’ve pulled together some top tips to help you host a successful summer event.

Decide on a theme
Your theme will differ depending on the type of event you’re hosting. If it’s a personal party, then you can really go to town – get your sombreros and maracas at the ready! If it’s a networking event you’re looking to host, think about designing the theme around your brand personality. It’s a great idea to use coloured lighting that’s reflective of your core brand colours, or offer a signature cocktail.

Add personal touches
In addition to adding items that are personal to you, think about how you can cater for your guests’ interests – after all, it’s them that you want to impress! If you’re looking to host a fun outdoor event, consider arranging some food stalls and outdoor games for entertainment. It’s also great to source locally wherever possible, as provenance can add an element of individuality that can’t be found elsewhere.

Think about the senses
Humans are programmed to thrive off sensory experiences. So, make sure you’re appealing to all of them. Offering a wide variety of food is always a good idea – from savoury to sweet, hot to cold and meals to canapés; the wider your variety, the better. Artisan food stalls are always a popular choice – not only providing delicious food, but also helping to create a great atmosphere.

Incorporating flower decorations appeals to both sight and smell. Whether you choose to arrange for hanging bouquets or build your event around the existing flora, it’s always a good idea to use our natural surrounds to your advantage with party décor.

Music is, of course, central to a summer party, setting the overall mood. Be sure to select songs that your guests want to hear, and try to incorporate a mix of genres that appeal to your guests’ tastes. Your music choice should also complement the theme, so think about music and décor as going hand-in-hand.

Venue
The UK is known for its temperamental weather patterns. This is why, even in the summer months, it’s important to have indoor and outdoor options available at a party, to cater for all weather possibilities. At Crumplebury, our indoor and outdoor space can be used interchangeably to suit, with both providing a beautiful atmosphere for you and your guests.

It’s also a great idea to work with an events team who are happy to work with you from a ‘blank canvas’. This way, you can use your imagination to create an atmosphere that really reflects your chosen style and taste.

Don’t forget to keep your eye out for the opening of our new events venue, Crumplebury, which will be opening in Autumn 2019.
