We’ve finally opened our doors!
On Saturday, 9th November 2019, we were thrilled to open the doors of Crumplebury.
In celebration of the build’s completion, our owners, Joe and Keeley Evans, hosted an intimate launch party with friends and guests from across the hospitality, design and event-planning industries.
Welcomed with a glass of Champagne, guests were invited in to explore the venue while being treated to delicious seasonal food prepared by the chefs at Green Cow Kitchens; our on-site fine-dining restaurant.
The canapes – made from locally farmed and foraged ingredients – included a range of hot and cold dishes. Along with these sweet and savoury homemade treats was a four-tiered cheese ‘cake’ for guests to enjoy.
Green Cow Kitchens, which will continue to offer it’s renowned tasting menus, is prized for its farm-to-fork ethos which places particular importance on food provenance and sustainability. These values are reflected in the menus offered at Crumplebury and were showcased in the food served on Saturday night.
Suitably satiated by canapes, guests investigated the various areas of the building including our cosy snug, the Drinking Trough bar and our multi-functional Art Gallery, before being invited in to the Grand Hall via its five-metre, dark-timber-clad doors to see it in its finished, fully-furnished glory.
It was here in the hall that Joe and Keeley delivered an emotional introduction to Crumplebury, talking through the journey from conception to completion and thanking the key people involved behind the scenes.
Amongst those thanked was internationally-acclaimed interior designer, Dean Sharpe, who assisted Keeley with her vision for Crumplebury. “Dean helped us to develop a rustic yet sophisticated modern design, utilising dark colours to enhance the surrounding landscape.”
Since the launch event, Keeley has spoken to us about the build: “Wherever possible, we have used natural materials to echo the peaceful Herefordshire countryside that surrounds us. The simple agrarian shapes, ‘wrinkly tin’ roofs and walls and palate of stained-timber and stone all reflect Crumplebury’s rural setting. It’s been wonderfully exciting to create Crumplebury. To carefully craft this stunning events space and witness our vision unfold before our eyes has been hugely rewarding, and we look forward to helping guests create memories that last a lifetime”.
Joe has also spoken of the event: “The launch was a magical night for all involved. It was wonderful to see our vision finally realised and to be able to share that with friends, guests and those who have offered us support throughout.”
“Our aim at Crumplebury is to create a ‘home-from-home’ for our guests. With the thoughtful interior design and the glorious surroundings together with our professional yet warm service, we’re looking to offer a calm retreat from the pressures of professional life, a place that provides inspiration for dynamic business meetings and, of course, an exceptional setting for weddings and special occasions.”
All guests that attended our launch were handed a ‘Crumplebury Chronicle’, featuring a seasonal update of life at Crumplebury together with recipes from our chefs and a hand-drawn map of the Whitbourne Estate. They were also given a packet of wildflower seeds – the same mix that has been planted around the buildings – allowing guests to take a piece of Crumplebury home with them.
