0.00001 food miles. We are proud to be a little bit different. Green Cow menus showcase the food that is produced and foraged from the land around us. Throughout the seasons, the chefs forage for wild garlic, hedgerow berries, damsons, plums, apples, pears, puff balls, elderflower and more...

Our Story

When we began this exciting journey, we had a very clear vision that we wanted to create something wonderful at Crumplebury that championed our love of glorious food, good times and great friends.

Becoming Crumplebury

When Joe & Keeley returned home to the Whitbourne Estate after 5 years living overseas in Jersey, Mumbai and Manila, they dreamed about opening a restaurant called ‘Green Cow’. With a passion for food and customer experience, the duo launched ‘Green Cow Kitchens’ as a pop-up in a converted pigsty in 2012, together with their (then) young chef Mickey and Joe’s sister Megan.

‘Green Cow Kitchens’ has grown considerably since those humble beginnings and is now open four evenings a week with tasting menus and brasserie nights, has dozens of dining club members and a 5* rating on TripAdvisor.

The Evans’ Family has also grown considerably since then (Joe’s parents are frequently looking after their four grandchildren), as have Joe & Keeley’s dreams. Building on the success of Green Cow and their experience in customer service, catering and events, they will turn their new dream into reality when Crumplebury opens in October 2019.

‘Crumplebury’ was the name of Whitbourne Estate’s old pigsty and outbuildings. From October, it will be transformed into an exquisite space providing the perfect setting for weddings and events. For guests looking for something out of the ordinary with a focus on culinary excellence, food provenance and the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside it will provide the perfect setting.

Joe & Keeley live on the estate just a field away from Crumplebury and are excited to welcome guests to their home. With their determination to bring the estate into the 21st century together with their belief in the importance of teamwork and people development, they are able to combine customer service excellence and professionalism with the warmth of a family-run business.
